Welcome to Drift Away, the tfl.org
approved Fanlisting for the Dawson's Creek episode. Airing as the forth episode of it's fifth season, this
sentimental and special episode was dedicated to dealing with the aftermath of the death of Mitch Leery, Dawson's father. Coming back in five different montages, in the forms of memories of the core cast
members that knew and loved him, we were allowed our final glimpses of Mitch Leery. Dawson's twelfth birthday,
securing the famous ladder for Joey, teaching Pacey how to drive, setting up the baby crib for Gale and
their little 'freak' and ending with the final family portrait taken of the complete Leery family. The haunting song Ghost by Eastmountainsouth played over the heartbreaking funeral
scene, sealing the somber mood that monopolized the entire episode. Music dominated the episode, each piece bringing
it's own sentiment and feeling to the episode. The title Drift Away... was taken from the song Drift Away by Dobie
Gray that actually played in the episode prior to The Long Goodbye, during the fatal accident that claimed Mitch Leery's
life. Ending with a heartwarming final few moments of the complete and undeniably happy
Leery family, James Taylor's touching song Fire and Rain played us to the credits...and played Mitch Leery out of
the show, forever. Part of The Dawson's Creek Network.
